Bertil Stam, designer for Mason furniture range

La-Z-Boy has just launched a new wooden furniture product range, specifically designed for those who seek a more contemporary and modern look to their home. Danish designer Bertil Stam designed the Mason wooden furniture range, exclusively for La-Z-Boy. Bertil has a great understanding of the fundamentals of design and embraces customer needs and market trends, making it a perfect fit for La-Z-Boy!
Question: What was your inspiration for the Mason range Bertil?

Bertil: I wanted to create a product that was not only unique, stylish and functional, but also aligned to La-Z-Boy’s philosophy of ‘living life comfortably’.  I’m proud to say that it  fulfils all this and more!

Question: What timber did you use and why is it special?

Bertil: We used a European oak for the Mason, as it showcases  the beautiful light golden tones synonymous with Scandinavian design. We also used timber from a sustainable timber farm, where trees are replanted once they are used, making it much better for the environment.

Question: What makes your design unique to the market?

Bertil:  We wanted to give customers the ability to ‘customise’ their Mason furniture pieces. Therefore, customers have the ability to choose different colored handles on five of the furniture pieces (console, sideboard, lamp table, coffee table, TV unit). Options include white, oak, walnut and a blank option, so that customers can paint the handle a colour or pattern to suit their room requirements.

Bertil has used his Scandinavian background and appreciation of the use and purpose of furniture to make a solid, durable and quality range that is also sustainable and aesthetically beautiful – what’s not to like about the Mason wooden furniture range by La-Z-Boy!
